Severino Family Suffers Double Tragedy

Five months ago, we were devastated to learn that our friend Mike Severino (age 50) was diagnosed with a stage IV glioblastoma brain tumor. Since then, Mike has courageously battled this illness with the help of his wife Brenda (age 47).

On March 21st, just as Mike was beginning another round of chemo, Brenda suffered a catastrophic stroke and passed away a short time later.

Brenda’s death has left Mike and their two daughters, Olivia and Hannah, struggling to make sense of this tragedy while they work to figure out how to continue Mike’s cancer treatment.

Mike is a 22-year Air Force Veteran who sustained injuries during Iraqi Freedom. After his military service, Mike began a second career at Pierce Transit where he supervises the driver training program. Until his illness, Mike served his community as a youth soccer coach and referee.

Brenda was a social worker with the Division for Children, Youth and Families  where she put her heart into making sure children were safe and had access to needed services.

Mike and Brenda recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. With Brenda’s passing the Severino family has been left without a rudder. She was the heart of the family and responsible for keeping them afloat during this devastating time.

We are asking for donations to assist with Brenda’s funeral arrangements and Mike’s climbing medical expenses that are not covered under his insurance.

On behalf of Mike, Olivia, and Hannah, we thank you in advance for all your love, prayers, and financial support.

Thank you,
Fran Draxton and Kandi Hartman
