Settling a Refugee Family of 10

The war-torn and hunger stricken country of Sudan, ranks as  187 of 188 on the Human Development Index. The country has been plagued by war for the last decade leading to political oppression and neglect. Less than half of their health facilities have shut down,  violence has risen and disease continues to spread. Nearly 400,000 deaths have been recorded due to these causes.

With millions of refugees in dire need of stability, my friends and I have decided   to find a way to help. Partnering with the International Rescue Committee (IRC), we were told a family of ten would be settling in Wichita on October 14th, 2020 and were needing the basic necessities of a home.  We decided to take on the challenge of fundraising money to furnish their home and create a welcoming environment for this new American family. Our end goal is to help ease their feelings of uncertainty, disorientation and worry, as much as we can.

The family of ten includes 4 boys, 4 girls, and the set of parents. The funds will be used for providing new mattresses and frames for the children and any excess money will be used for the parent's mattress, dining room, living room and welcome gift.
