Seth Krauss Eagle Project

My name is Seth Allen Krauss.
I am raising money to support the Bakersfield Firefighters Burn Foundation, a nonprofit organization to assist burn victims and promote and educate for burn prevention/awareness, 
For the first phase of my Eagle Scout Project.
     I am currently a Senior at Liberty High School of Bakersfield, California. Besides being a student, I play Varsity Football and participate in Track. I am the son of Dr. Kenneth and Hydee Krauss and have an older brother, an older sister and three younger brothers.
     My oldest brother, Derik, is an Eagle Scout and all of us boys are involved in boy scouts and supported by our parents, church, and community.
I have been involved in the scouting program since  8 years old and am now a Life Scout in the Boy Scouts of America (sponsored by my church, Bakersfield Stockdale Ward of the Chuch of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints).
The main reason I chose this project is because I am a former burn victim/survivor, with severe, extreme burns of my legs and feet in June of 2014, due to an accident.
     At the time directly following the injury and surgeries, the surgeon,
Dr. Freeman,  told us it was unknown if I would ever be able walk, let alone run or jump normally ever again.
I endured the surgeries and a very painful recovery. With a lot of support and help from the doctors, nurses, my family, friends, and so many others I made it through.
     Fortunately for me, I was able to have a full and complete recovery.
I can jump, run, participate in sports, and lead a normal life while pursuing my goals and dreams without any handicap, hinderence, or significant disfiguring scars.
     I am extremly fortunate, however, many others are much less so.
There are some who suffer severe life altering, even crippling injuries, that will plague them for life.
     Because of this, I feel it's important to do some small part for my Eagle project that may benefit burn survivors and aid in burn protection and fire safety.

  The Project:
1. I will be raising funds for the Burn Foundation.
2. They in turn will supply me with the materials for putting together Burn prevention/awareness packets to be distributed to local hospitals to  new mothers geared toward preventing burns in small children. 
3. Teaching groups and classes about burn prevention and awareness  under the direction of the Burn Foundation. 
4.   Asking for donations for smoke alarms from local stores for Installation per the Burn Foundation. 
5. Installation of smoke alarms and any follow up to be done.  
My mentor and overseer of this project is Battalion Chief
Trevor Martinusen, Bakersfield Fire Department. 

     All proceeds of this  funding campaign will go directly to Bakersfield Firefighters Burn Foundation for purchase of materials and education information pertaining to the mission of the Burn Foundation.
