I can't state what is going on any better than what Heather Cummings stated on facebook:
"It is with utter shock and sadness to announce that the partially removed mass is cancer.
Our son has been diagnosed with Stage IV Alvelar Rhabdomyosarcoma (ARMS).
Rhabdomyosarcoma is the most common soft tissue cancer in children, with approximately 350 new cases each year in the US.
Alveolar is the more aggressive and occurs more commonly in teens or young adults.
The 8 cm mass was not able to completely removed.  An MRI showed that is has metastasized and the number of tumors on his spine are "to many to count."
The next few days will consist of tests including PET scan, spinal tap, and bone marrow biopsy. We will be moving to the Oncology floor here at Children's Mercy Hospital and focusing on keeping Seth comfortable and free of pain.
Please understand that we have been completely blindsided! At this time, we are working to get answers to the millions of questions and are overwhelmed. So, apologies ahead of time for the unanswered calls and messages."
Heather and John are spending a lot of time running to KC to the hospital, Childrens Mercy. I'm asking to help them with Gas and Food money to help during their time of need.
