CPF Missions Trip to Uganda

Howdy y’all from Whacko! Living in Texas has taught me a lot of things these past two years but perhaps the most important is that “y’all” is appropriate in any situation and cannot be overused. I don’t have cowboy boots yet, but I have been two-stepping and have jammed to country music in a pick-up truck so, never fear, the full Texas experience has not been wasted on this Floridian.
My first two years at Baylor have flown by and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. I am so thankful for the amazing friends I’ve made, the caring professors I’ve had, and for how much I’ve grown as an individual. God has blessed me so abundantly and in ways I could not have anticipated–– He is good and His plan is perfect.
This past year has been extra busy, but I’m very thankful and glad for everything I’ve been a part of. I volunteer at Waco Center for Youth, a psychiatric rehabilitation home for teens, a local medical clinic that “serves the underserved”, and my church’s pre-school Sunday School class. These volunteer opportunities have been so humbling and have helped me see the world beyond the “Baylor Bubble” and how I can serve those around me.

As far as school goes, I am still on the Pre-Med track and am studying Religion and Biology. I have thought a lot about where God is calling me in my career and have reached the momentous decision that… I have no idea. I don’t know where God wants me to go so my prayer in this season is for direction. Most recently, I have been praying about my plans for this summer.
I applied to many different summer programs and prayed for God to open the doors I need to go through and close those that aren’t in His will. One of the doors God has opened for me is the opportunity to spread His love on a medical missions trip all the way in Gulu, Uganda (way outside of the Baylor Bubble)!

I will be joining Restoration Gateway (RG) with fifteen fellow Baylor students for two weeks in May! We will get the chance to serve in a medical clinic, shadow doctors, and volunteer at a local orphanage. I know this experience will be a huge time of growth and I can’t wait for how much God will show us during this trip and how we will impact those we serve.

RG was founded on the prayers and support of many teams of people, and this missions trip is no different. I ask that you join us in praying for my team and those we will work with this summer. If you feel led to give, I ask that you consider helping financially. Any amount can make a big difference!

Thank you so much for letting me share this update with you and for considering joining this team prayerfully and/or financially! I look forward to all the work God will do through us this summer.
