Help Lety get a service dog

Donation protected
My mom, Martha (or Lety as she's known by family members), was diagnosed with Friedreich's ataxia (FA) over two decades ago. FA is a neuromuscular disease that causes progressive damage to the nervous system resulting various symptoms including mobility difficulties, speech difficulties, vision loss, and heart disease. Although my mom has been wheelchair bound for several years and never let any of the symptoms of her disorder hinder her from her goals or life, the concern now is her vision loss.

Those of you who know my mom know she is a woman who enjoys her independence out and about or at home. A woman always excited to wander, my mom enjoys being able to explore and enjoy her surroundings. My family and I hope that a service dog will allow my mom to keep her independence while helping her stay safe. A service dog could help find ramps, avoid curbs, pick up dropped objects, help opening doors, among other helpful skills.

When I told my mom I was going to start to the process to get her a service dog, she got SO excited. I know this is something my mom really needs and would really appreciate it. I hope you will be able to help make her wish a reality
