Our grandfather was one amazing fun loving man. Pete(Pap) knew just about everyone. He knew many people from when he was a chief of police. He was is very friendly and easy going person and made friends anywhere he went. He didn’t have a mean bone in him. Whether he knew you or not he would strike up a conversation with you. Everyone considered him their Pap.
We weren’t expecting to lose him this fast or early in life. Pap had several ongoing health issues, but started declining when our Gram got really sick with cancer. Ever since our Gram passed his health has gone downhill. He suffered a heart attack last week and didn’t receive proper medical attention until three days later. Once admitted into the hospital things took a turn for the worst. His heart had irreversible damage which wasn’t able to be corrected, and his kidneys starting to fail. These two conditions in additional to his chronic illnesses lead to the doctors telling us that nothing else could be done and it was time to call Hospice. Before he could be sent back home with Hospice his condition started to rapidly decline. Our family gathered around him to spend as much time with him as we could. With family by his side at 10:10 pm on January 25th he took his last breath. He fought so hard and was finally able to let go. We know he is back with his love and no longer alone.
As everyone knows funerals are expensive and not everyone has a savings to cover the service/burial. No one was expecting this and now we have the shock of a large and unexpected funeral bill. We are asking family and friends if they could donate towards the funeral expenses instead of flowers. We appreciate anything that you can give and our whole family thanks you in advance. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.
There will be a viewing on Tuesday January 30th from 2:00-3:30pm. It will be held at Sullivan’s Funeral Home in Enola.
