Help Get a Service Dog to Help PTSD

As I walked across a street, in between the cross walk lines and when it was my turn, also completely sober lol, a city bus hit me going about 20 miles. I flew (kind of like in the movie Mean Girls ha!) and my head bounced off the street pavement. On the side where the bus hit me, I have permanent identions in my arm and thigh. Due to my head bouncing off the pavement I have a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) and a partially torn retina in my right eye. I am in law school so I had to reteach myself how to learn and figure out ways

Two months later, I was sexually assaulted at a party. The perpetrator was not in law school, but the reason I was even there was because of law school girls that I believed were my closest friends in law school. They didn’t believe me, made fun of me to others, spread rumors at school, and belittled me every chance they got. I had to leave my school for a semester, and it has taken me a year longer to graduate than I was supposed to all because a guy decided he wanted to take something that wasn’t his to take.

I am a completely different person than I was before this. I have panic attacks frequently, I have frequent nightmares and wake up crying and sweating, I have completely lost trust in people. I used to be an extrovert but am now an introvert because I am scared of others. I have lost confidence in myself because if I can’t fight off someone when they are sexually assaulting myself, how can I fight for someone I’m advocating for or if I ever have kids, how can I fight for them. I made plans to kill myself after it first happened because I didn’t want to have to think about it anymore. I am depressed, anxiety through the roof, panic attacks, night tremors all because of things that happened that I couldn’t control. I have never been like this before.

I have been diagnosed with PTSD. I have been trying to get myself back with counseling and I have learned of dogs that can help with PTSD, so I began researching. A lot of companies/campaigns for service dogs for PTSD are specifically for Veterans. I completely believe that is a need due to their honorable service, and I wholeheartedly support the cause, but since I am not a Veteran, PTSD service dogs are limited. The expense for a non Veteran PTSD service dog is very expensive. Thus, that is why I have started a Go Fund Me.

I am asking for help to fund the expense for a companion that could help reduce my symptoms and help me return to the person I once was before. I would be incredibly blessed and grateful to have your help, and couldn’t thank you enough.

Thank you,
ACS
