Service Dog for Stephen Kinney

Donation protected
My good friend Stephen Kinney has Multiple Sclerosis, and although he has always been fairly self-sufficient thus far, his need for assistance  has now become more apparent and is essential to his well-being.

Stephen is no longer able to walk, or get into his car.   He is housebound, and although he has disability assistance for main household duties like grocery shopping and cooking, cleaning, etc., it unfortunately stops there. Stephen spends holidays, birthdays, and special events alone in his home.  When he falls, and he does, he  must call for a lift-assist from the Fire Department.

A Service Dog would be a true blessing to Stephen, for assistance with dropping items, retrieving, and for all general help.  And mostly for the unconditional love and companionship that a Service Dog would provide.

The cost of raising and training a Service Dog is $60,000.  Canine Partners of the Rockies does an amazing job with their volunteer trainers and superb programs.  They continue to follow up on all dogs that they place, to ensure that both the dog and the human's needs are being met.  The cost that they pass on to their disabled dog recipients is a quarter of that, $15,000.  They will place a dog for a “down payment” of $7,500, and they will take payments on the second $7,500 over the following year.

Any help you can give Stephen is truly appreciated.  He is living on a very limited budget and cannot pay this amount without assistance.

Thank you all for any help you can provide!  No amount is too small.

Thanks,

Jan
