I am currently a student in the Doctor of Chiropractic program at Life University. I have experienced so much healing from Chiropractic and the Vitalistic way of life that I have chosen to continue my treatment without the use of medication. I know that the body heals from above, down, inside, out and that I will not always suffer from epilepsy.
I currently struggle from epileptic seizures on a weekly basis. The seizures require a lot of time and energy. I currently have 18-20 amazing student/faculty volunteers who see that I am safe while on campus.
After many conversations and many prayers, I have decided to take a step forward in another form of help; an Epilepsy Service Dog.
There is a great service dog organization right here in Marietta, GA, "Paws for Life!" Once the application and interview portion is complete, I will be guaranteed a service dog.
The cost of a service dog is not cheap; it includes the dog, the training, veterinarian visits, and official certification.
Here is the breakdown:
$2,500- Initial Deposit (Once the dog has been found for me and contracts signed)
$14,000- Final payments to be paid within a discussed timeframe.
It is a lot of money, but I know that ultimately this is a step in the right direction. I will never see myself a victim to epilepsy nor I will never allow epilepsy to decide whether I am capable of doing the things I LOVE to do! I want to be able to be an example to my future patients that anything that you put your mind to you can achieve, but the path may just look differently than you originally envisioned it.
My path will now have a dog! :)
