Help Delaney and the Kilbanes

On July 14, 2017, Megan and Brian Kilbane welcomed Delaney Anne into their lives. She was perfect in every way, and they looked forward to the years of memories that would come with their sweet girl. Although she is still perfect, at the age of nine months Delaney unexpectedly began experiencing seizures, which led to multiple ICU hospitalizations and a diagnosis of a seizure disorder. Doctors were able to find a daily medication for Delaney to try to lower the chance of future seizures. However, recently she began seizing frequently at night, even with the medication. Because she does not make any sound when these episodes occur, it has become necessary for Megan or Brian to stay up all night watching her in case she seizes unexpectedly, which is not sustainable for the long term. 


To assist with her condition and improve both her quality of life and risk of injury, Delaney's neurologists have strongly recommended a service dog who would sleep with her at night. The dog would provide a multitude of benefits: alerting Megan and Brian if Delaney is seizing, reducing her risk of injury while seizing, and providing a calming affect for Delaney. Children with her condition frequently become highly anxious because they do not know when a seizure will come on, and the dog would help alleviate this.
