Sergeant's Cancer Fund

Donation protected

Our almost 3 year old pup, Sergeant, who is loved tremendously by our three children was recently diagnosed with lymphoma on Monday the 10th of September. So far, he has been seen at VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists by Dr. Cheryl Trempala, DVM where he has already undergone ultrasounds, x-rays, and a biopsy to confirm his diagnosis. He visited with Veterinary Cancer and Surgery Specialists with Dr. Kim Freeman, DVM who has set a treatment plan that includes immediate surgery to remove the 3.8cm x 7cm tumor located on his small intestine followed by a Madison-Wisconsin Six Month Chemotherapy Protocol Schedule. Today, Dr. Benjamin Spall, DVM from Cascade Veterinary Referral Center has admitted Sergeant into the hospital where he is awaiting surgery. Sergeant's medical bills have already exceeded $7,600 and look to continue rising as we further work towards his treatment plan. We would like to ask for support in order to save our beautiful boy who is not only a loved and cherished family member, but Giuseppe's required Emotional Support Therapy Dog. Sergeant needs to accompany Giuseppe at all times prescribed by Karen E. Inaba, MS, PMHNP at the Portland VA Medical Center.  We hope with your help along with prayers, and treatment, Sergeant will be able to return to his family, recover, and continue working as Giuseppe's therapy dog. He has given so much in his short life so far and with your help, we can offer him the best chance of survival that we can.

*******Updates on Sergeant's Status.*******

Sergeant has undergone surgery to remove the baseball size tumor located in his lower intestine. Surgery was successful and Sergeant is recovering. Once he is completely healed he will begin his chemotherapy for 25 weeks. We want to thank all that have shared this fundraiser and especially want to thank those who contributed to his rising cancer fund. We are so grateful to have friends and family who care for his survival and recovery as much as we do and will forever be touched by the love and charity you have provided to our family. Below are some photos of Sergeant.

*******Updates on Sergeant's Status.*******

Today we received some bad news from the oncologist. Sgt's cancer is going to take him regardless of chemotherapy. Chemo will only give him about 8 months, but with a  very tough life. Without chemo, he may be gone within the next two months. We decided to not put Sgt through anymore pain or suffering and will not go through the chemo. We're going to spoil and love him while he's here so that he knows and feels he is loved without a doubt. Tomorrow I plan on taking him to his favorite swimming hole. I threw balls with him most of the day today and spoiled him with treats. I love you all and will keep you updated. He is my boy and he will live his last days to the fullest.
