Cancer Complications & Expenses

My mother, Serey, has always been a fighter. Born in Cambodia she survived Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge. She met my father in a refugee camp in S.E. Asia before they both emigrated separately to the USA, my mom with her family to Los Angeles and my father with his to Minneapolis. It took time, both immigrating to a country where neither spoke the native language, but eventually the two were wed and set about starting a new life and family. My mother's life was defined by obstacles overcome until two years ago, when an overwhelming opponent emerged from nowhere, stage IV Colorectal cancer.


We've been treating her cancer with chemotherapy and radiation since her diagnosis but this arduous fight has proven to be the final one of my mother's all too short life. We surrounded her with as much family as we could in her final days. The emotional and physical tolls were obvious from the moment of her diagnosis but, while administering palliative care in hospice, the financial implications came into focus. Bills and expenses for specialized medical procedures and treatments that I have no business understanding at my age are stacking up and I/We need help.


Any and all funding raised by this GoFundMe campaign will be put towards medical expenses incurred to treat my mother's cancer as well as expenses related to the memorial service and funeral.
