Seren’s ALL stars - help Seren enjoy life

On 18th December Seren was diagnosed with accute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Before then she was happy and bright with a kind, caring nature. She still is all of those things but, in addition, she is now facing a 2-3 year battle with cancer.
The cover photo was taken 10 days before her diagnosis as we prepared for Christmas all together, and just 5 days before she was admitted to hospital on 13th December. We spent Christmas at Birmingham children’s hospital and she faced it with strength and courage. Seren now attends appointments at BCH where she undergoes multiple weekly chemotherapy treatments, aswell as a range of other drugs and procedures including general anaesthetics, lumbar punctures, bone marrow tests, blood tests, transfusions and antibiotic treatments for infections. Her immune system is weak but they allow us to stay at home between treatments and administer steroids, pain relief and other oral medication at home or through the community nurse team.
She’s completed 9 months of her treatment and now we are in maintenance chemotherapy treatment until May 2021!
Seren has spent the time fundraising and so far raised £27,000 for cancer charities and the children’s hospital that treats her. Now we have the harsh reality of being almost a year out of work and trying to make the time on treatment fun for her when I can. Anything you can spare will go towards fun activities and things to keep Seren motivated to keep going.
