Serena's Battle against Cancer

Our beloved girl Serena has been diagnosed with cancer.
A bit about Super Serena…..
Serena is a fun, loving person. She is always the life and soul of the party and her laugh… well it’s the most infectious thing you will come across. She lives for her beautiful 5 year old daughter Reya and they truly are 2 peas in a pod. You only need to sit with Reya for a few minutes to see just how well she has been raised. She’s the politest little girl who loves cuddles and like her mummy has the most beautiful smile and infectious laugh.
Serena was diagnosed with cancer 2 and a half months ago. This was so hard for Serena and all of her loved ones to take in. How could this happen? Serena has always been a strong person and would never moan about pain but this was just too much. After suffering like the trooper she is being admitted to hospital and persisting for more tests to be completed, Serena finally got the dreaded news.
She was admitted to hospital for pain relief as she could no longer cope. After managing to get this under control she was allowed to go home with her mum Janet so that she could concentrate on getting better. Having her partner Lloyd, Reya, Janet, Alfio (Serena’s step dad) and family and friends around her in a home environment really gave her a boost but unfortunately the pain was just too much and the sickness really kicked in. Serena had to go back into hospital and ever since has been in and out and is now in a hospice.
Serena’s latest scans have shown that the cancer is once again progressing and they have said there is nothing more they can do. The doctors predict that Serena doesn’t have much time to live. This has been hard for everyone to take in especially Janet, she has watched her suffer and has said numerous times she doesn’t know how Serena does it, she has taken so much. But that’s Serena for you!!! she doesn’t do anything without putting up a fight. We hope that Serena will defy the odds by fighting as she is now and continue to spend time with her beautiful family. We truly believe she will continue to fight and keep her strength to spend as much time as she can with her family, especially little Reya. We can’t give up on her, yes we are not naïve but we are looking up every option just to give her more time.
Lloyd hasn’t left her side. Both Lloyd and Alfio have been a rock for her family. They are trying to keep as much normality as possible for beautiful Reya. Reya loves being spoiled by and her Nana Janet and Nonna Alfio, her Grandad Peter and Julie but this is just so hard for Serena’s parents and loved ones to come to terms with. No parents should watch their child go through this and certainly no 5 year old child should have to watch their mummy suffer. Reya keeps asking to make her mummy better so she can come home.
We are fundraising to give Serena and Reya the best quality of life with whatever time she has left and to make sure Reya is set up for the best life possible under these awful circumstances.
