Sensible Gun Law 2018

As parents of six children, our hearts are broken by the school shootings over the past two decades, especially this latest tragedy in Parkland, so close to our home in Tallahassee, Florida.
As friends of the former Columbine High School lacrosse coach, we visited that campus in 1999 and still feel a small part of the weight of the pain of that terrible day.
Born in rural America, lifelong gun owners, with children who love to hunt, we understand the honorable and rightful place of gun ownership in our Nation.
And yet, in our exuberance to stand for the unfettered, unqualified right to bear arms, we feel we have gone too far.
Our Goal is to raise startup funds for a Charity that would call for sensible legislation, acceptable to all reasonable people, and thus within our reach. We believe we can make a real difference in our schools and for our children.
Our Hope: That among reasonable people there are other gun owners like us who might be willing to join with the brave young people from Parkland, Florida, and raise our voices together for sensible change.

1) Contribute to our GoFundMe site, to provide startup funds for a new charitable initiative to spread a message of unity. The goal of our efforts will be simple: share a sensible message on gun control, as widely as possible.
2) Visit our website at SensibleGunLaw.com (also reachable through SensibleGunLaw.org) to become more familiar with some of the nuances of this issue. (Should be up shortly - by the evening of 2/21/18. The site will be very simple at first - we are just getting started!).

Grant Partners Inc. was established in 2009 as a Florida non-profit with 501 (c)(3) status, with the goal of helping other non-profits with their startup and funding needs.

Your relationship or connection to the parties you're raising funds for: Our goal is to help the young people from Parkland, FL who want to share a bi-partisan message on sensible gun laws (if their other initiatives, particularly an assault weapons ban, fail). We have made initial contact with several students from Parkland, and are seeking one or more who are ready to lead this initiative. The goal is to establish this non-profit for them, and provide the support they need to lead this initiative. (Note: Our 9 year old Florida non-profit, Grant Partners Inc., helps other non-profits with their startup and other funding needs. )
How the funds will be spent:
5-10% of funds raised will cover administrative costs. The remaining funds will be spent on the message campaign through 501(c)(3) or other IRS designated charities.
Withdrawal Plan We are working now to set up the name Sensible Gun Law under our non-profit, Grant Partners Inc., as a DBA name. Once the required Flordia Division of Corportations registrations are complete, funds will be transered from GoFundMe to GrantPartners.inc, which has an IRS 501(c)(3) designation.
