In the summer of 2010, I was in the darkest place of my life. I had reached a rock bottom lower than I ever thought possible for myself. One minute I was graduating high school with a scholarship for academics and athletics; the next I was addicted to heroin, risking my life for my next high.

It did not matter the price or sacrifice; I was willing to do whatever it took to get my next fix. Whether it was selling drugs, stealing from drug dealers, or putting myself in some of the most dangerous situations on the streets: everything was on the table because heroin was now my god in which I found my identity, my comfort, my joy and my escape.

Eventually, this addiction caused me to lose the things that were dearest in my life. I no longer cared about the relationships within my family, my dreams, my talents and more importantly myself. . I needed something bigger to intervene to help me out of this pit of darkness

I finally hit rock bottom finding myself broken and hopeless admitting myself to Calvary Addiction Rehab Center, not even sure what I wanted or needed. I was lost. On my fifth day of detoxing, I attended the chapel service and heard the Gospel.

That night lying in my bed, still sick from withdrawing off of the drugs, I surrendered myself to Christ. It was my first honest prayer to God, desperately needing His saving grace to save me from this life filled of darkness. I turned from my old way of living during my stay at Calvary, with the desire to lay down my life for the Gospel.

Today, 3 years after God brought me out of the darkness.. I've been given the opportunity this summer to be a light by serving on a short term mission trip to Costa Rica to help serve one of the poorest tribes in region called Yorkin. It also just so happens that the people of Yorkin have been largely affected by alcoholism, and have had little support.

As a young woman who was a heroin addict now transformed by the Gospel, I have a tremendous burden on my heart to go and serve the people in the Yorkin tribe and share my story with them.

The purpose of my mission to Costa Rica is to:
-
Continue the work of building community and women's project to help them become self-supporting

-Demonstrate God's love through acts of social service

-Incarnate the "body of Christ" by living in the community with team members and the villagers

I am very excited about the experience and the potential help that lies ahead for the people of Yorkin to help them create a better way of living for themselves.

I am asking first prayer for these people and second financial support from you to help to be part of giving these people the opportunity to hear the Gospel and receive resources.

I need to raise $700 by March 15th and 2,000 total for this trip.
If you would like be part of this mission through your financial support,

Thank you for your partnership in blessing the community of Yorkin.
