Help Me Live the College Dream!

Donation protected
After several attempts of seeking employment and getting back into college, I finally achieved a major goal and got accepted into Georgia State University as a re-entry/non-traditional student for the Summer 2014 semester and made it to the Dean's List with a 3.77 GPA taking these classes:

·Survey of U. S. History
·Introduction to the Allied Fields of Health, Physical Education, and Fitness
·The Legal and Ethical Environment of Business

Since then, I have advanced in both my Exercise Science major and Mathematics minor while becoming a "displaced student advocate" on the Georgia State campus. While I am still doing relatively well academically, many promising job opportunities have still come and gone, even after accounting for brief stint as a News reporter for The Signal , my school's student-run newspaper. The result is my still being financially unstable. Nonetheless, my plan is to graduate with a B. S. in Exercise Science from Georgia State before finishing my college football career while pursuing advanced degrees and certifications, most likely my M. S. in Sport Science. Where I will transfer is still up in the air because of the areas of study I want to pursue, each school's unique transfer eligibility requirements, and my willingness to travel. Hence, I have two options:

1) a dual enrollment with Georgia State and Clark Atlanta University (via the Atlanta Regional Council for Higher Education), where I will pursue Exercise Science in the former school and play football and pursue Mathematics at the latter school.

2) I transfer to a different NCAA Division II or Division III football school of my choice and finish both my academic and athletic career at that school.

Let me get to the point:  I am once again preparing to store my belongings in another place because I owe $3,651.66 from a Spring 2017 semester Housing fee. Between another possible move out of a residence and balancing my potential Fall classes which will cost $4,265 for 11 credit hours, this might be too much for me to bare. However, if you donate to this fundraiser, then you can increase my chances of making marked improvements to my goal of creating a displaced student platform so that it can grow to a federal level.

 I need as many people as possible to donate any amount of money that they can afford so I can resume my college career while getting the professional credentials I need to make a difference in the sports and public health industries.

What is this campaign truly about? What will I achieve both on and off campus that is relevant to my life?
Developing a displaced student platform serving non-traditional students and their efforts to obtain degrees is a major part of my life that will be enhanced with your help. This fundraiser is another source to convey how students who have been displaced, raised in the foster care system, and/or experienced familial and financial hardships are no less dedicated to being valuable members of society than anyone else. This campaign is a demonstration of my never-ending effort to fulfill these short- and long-term goals:

·be employed at one of my target companies and/or some health-and-fitness organization until Graduation;
·expand my displaced student paradigm to a federal level;
·volunteer at some of my favorite Atlanta events like the Digital Summit, Atlanta Science Festival, and the AJC Peachtree Road Race;
·involve myself in open courseware and Massive Open Online Courses from platforms like Coursera, EdX, Udemy, MIT Open Courseware, and the Khan Academy;
·learn how to write code via library books and Codecademy; and
·save money for graduate school applications and personal training certifications.

Which classes do you want to take this Fall and next Spring?
If it is not too late this Fall, I plan on taking Strength Training and Conditioning, Advanced Biomechanics,  and Athletic Training. If I am able to take these classes and move on to the Spring 2018 semester, I will take Principles of Nutrition, Neuromuscular Physiology and Plasticity, and Cardiopulmonary Physiology.

Since you mention open courseware, exactly what classes will you take if you get reinstated again to Georgia State?
The open courseware and MOOC classes I would like to take are all from Coursera and are as follows:

·How to Change the World
·Computer Science 101 (Self-Paced Mode)
·Critical Thinking in Global Challenges
·Think Again: How to Reason and Argue

These courses will be spaced out through the remainer of my time at Georgia State, with my anticipated graduation date being December 2019.

Why Exercise Science and Mathematics? Are they not two completely different disciplines?
I have decided to stick to both of these areas--and reduce the latter as a minor instead of double-majoring--because I want to increase my chances of acceptance into graduate school for *either* discipline while making professional and social advancements in the city of Atlanta. Remaining a double-major would have lengthened my time in college by years because each semester will be part-time until my decision to transfer to the football school of my choice. The exercise science focus is based on my strong desire to become an influencer and rainmaker in the sports and health and fitness industries. My love for mathematics was present since my childhood years and has intensified over the years because I notice that society is severely lacking in scientific and numerical literacy.

How do I benefit from supporting your crowdfunding cause?
Contributing to my academic and professional pursuits will benefit everyone involved because you are helping another young black American man better his life, aiding in specific ventures that could directly impact your own life. There is a great chance you will improve (or reinforce) your own sense of well-being and compassion. Supporting a cause such as mine can help you stay informed on various issues where our passions might both coincide, which can lead to heightened awareness on different topics. Further, donating to my cause can introduce you to many connections--professionally and otherwise--that I have so that you can reach out to others and find ways to help THEM if you are so inclined. Your personal values and perspectives are ultimately revealed when you give to ANY charity or crowdsourcing entity, not just my own; it exemplifies the qualities and morals that you consider important. Your ability or willingness to help me will go a long way in determining whether I have the ability or willingness to help others in the sports, public health, and science fields. Refusing to donate for my attempts at a college education is not an automatic indictment against your character; if you don't feel right about it or are still don't think that I have made my intent CLEAR enough for you, then you don't have to donate.

What activities will I support and/or perform until Graduation?
I have already built connections within the football, basketball, and baseball programs through my previous employment with the Athletic Department. The possibility of my performing undergraduate research in the Exercise Science department and playing a role in execution of the Athletics Master Plan--and, by extension, the Second Century Initiative--is also very high. Additionally, I will also take time to connect with the Neuroscience Institute, a brand new sustainability initiative, and the Department of Philosophy for research and networking purposes. Other involvement in Georgia State Athletics and Recreational Services might also include joining a boxing, martial arts, and/or mixed martial arts club organization through our Recreational Center.

Ultimately, what truly ARE your long-term goals once I contribute to your crowdsourcing fund and help you resume your education?
My long-term goals, as described mostly on my LinkedIn profile, are to increase participation in tackle/American football worldwide and to make a tremendous impact in athletic, scientific, and historical realms.

Other resources and items that I need to thrive as a re-entry student for the 2017-18 school year include:

·weekly and monthly public transportation fare (MARTA and Gwinnett County Transit)
·computers (a custom-made PC and laptop) and a printer
·calculator
·microphones for daily podcasts
·books for classes AND supplementary reading
·mental health counseling (besides what GSU provides)
·secured credit card
·dry cleaning for business clothes
·crates and stacking containers
·message board
·digital camera and tablet
·flashlights and batteries
·Kindles or other e-reading devices
·First Aid kit
·plastic and glass containers (for snacks and food)
·mixing bowls

In the midst of all the economic and political strife that seemingly overwhelming the narrative of this nation, I ask that you consider sending donations as often and soon as possible so I can increase my chances of graduating sooner than the 2019 date. Transfer of any donations to my credit union will take 2-5 business days to complete. Further, withdrawing funds and requesting a paper check will take 7-10 business days to process. The positive impact that taking Georgia State classes can have on my life cannot be underestimated, I must reiterate and I need as many donations provided as soon as possible so that I can retrieve them in a timely manner! Additionally, you as a donator will NEVER GET CHARGED for donating--only I get charged a 5% fee for withdrawing donations. Plan your donations to be around 5% greater than you may otherwise provide.

All donations will not only help me with my classwork, but I can ultimately plan a documentary and possible book about the issue of displaced college students, as well as a separate video-and-essay platform dedicated to helping Black American men improve themselves and their respective communities.

Facebook , LinkedIn , and Twitter are the main places to reach me if you have any questions or concerns. I also have Steemit and Medium accounts where am blogging and will create Minds.com and Gab.ai accounts as well for my commentary on sports, politics, science, the state of the black American community, and my constant efforts to gain living-wage employment and continue my education.
