Help Me Build a School in Kenya!

Donation protected
Thank you!  Let me start with gratitude to you for simply getting to this page.  And thanks in advance for making it to the "why" of you being here!  My hope in doing so is that you will be joyful in your giving and that you have a deep sense that you are making a difference.  The "So What?" of life means a lot to me, and I'm sure it does to you too.

If you have been with me financially on my two other journeys to Kenya, you have heard a great deal from me about how you have helped to change lives of kids on the other side of the world.   And yep, I'm going again - this time from June 22-July 4 of this year.  Will you please consider being really generous and donating to this page so that we can do it again?

This particular trip to the Kibera slum is going to serve one main purpose: to have 50+ people converge on site to build a school for 300+ students in 10 days.  Crossing Thresholds (http://crossingthresholds.org) has spent 10 years in Kibera improving the lives of hundreds of students in three different schools there, and it's time for what we are calling The Big Build!  It's an exciting time for the students and teachers and for the organization.  I'm stoked!  I can hardly wait to get there!

Let me tell you what your generosity is going toward.

1) About $4500 of my $8000 goal is going toward simply getting there and spending the 12 days out of country.  From travel to lodging in a couple of different places, this is the biggest piece of the pie.
2) Another $1000 is going toward the specific project of building the 300+ student school.
3) High school tuition ($1000) for a young girl my family has sponsored while at the Facing the Future School (the school I've visited most since 2015).  Leunida has graduated 8th grade at the very top of her class, and I am not committed to helping her financially get through high school.  It is no exaggeration to say that she is one of the most talented and intelligent students in the country.
4) The remainder will go to Crossing Thresholds, which has made an indelible mark upon my life.  Carter, Gary, Aly, Emily, Mickey, and others came into my life at a time when I was really struggling to find my other-than-me purpose.  With your help, I want to bless them in ways I otherwise could not.

If you follow me on social media at all, you no doubt have seen photos and experiences of my trips to Kenya.  More importantly, you are aware of my passion to bring education and an end to the poverty cycle in this very desperate area.  Kibera is the second largest slum in the world, so to do something great that gives them a chance at a better life is something I cannot adequately explain.  I weep every time I go and every time I leave.

Your support in the past has made it possible for them and for me to have our lives changed (maybe mine to a great degree!!).   Please offer your support, as much as you feel you can.

It's been nothing short of a rich experience  - one that never really ends.  Partnering with me now will continue to make a difference.  Thank you, again, so much.

Big love,

Ozzie
