Get Me to the Yale Writer's Conference 2014

Donation protected
For the past two years I've been working hard on a science fiction novel. I submitted an excerpt from my novel to a writing Conference in Chattanooga TN and my workshop leader, Caleb Ludwick (read his book here) told me that I should apply for the 2014 Yale Writer's Conference. I laughed at the idea that I could be accepted but the application was free. I'm still getting over my surprise that they let me in. My husband is recently graduated and looking for work and I've got an hourly job while looking for something more stable so I can't get there without your help.

About The Conference:
It's one of the best writing conferences in the country and I don't know when I'll have another chance as good as this. While I'm at Yale for 2 weeks I will get the chance to learn from bestselling authors, editors, and publishing agents. I'll also get the chance to network with agents. My teachers at the conference will be Xi Xu, Rick Moody and John Crowley

About The Price:
Tuition for two weeks is $3850. That includes a dorm room to stay in so that I won't have to find somebody's couch to crash on. That said, I'm still looking for a couch to crash on, just in case. The hotels and Hostels around the New Haven area are much more expensive than a dorm. The tuition cost without the dorm is $2960. I'm also looking for airplane or bus tickets to get to New Haven CT, which is what the extra $150 would go to. For more information on the conference go to: http://summer.yale.edu/ywc

About my Novel: After a gigantic comet crashes into the red face of Mars a strange vine bursts into desert bloom, revitalizing the planet's atmosphere and giving man the chance to make their neighbor habitable for human life. The only problem is that the plant that makes life on Mars possible, is also predatory. Xenobiologist, and Bioengineer Evana Villalobos is the best chance humanity has of domesticating the vine but to do so she'll have to give up years with her husband and young children. When they finally join her on the new Martian colony they have to find a way to become whole family again, and survive the perils of this new world. The chapter I submitted is from the perspective of her son, Tomas as he and his older sister, Maria, get used to being Martians.
