Hi Everyone,
Aker here, John's beloved feline familiar. I'm writing because dad has gone overseas again and I think he could use some help. I heard he is scheduled to come home next week but the airport has been shut down. We could use some help getting him home.
Dad has been really stressed about his finances this year, having spent over $15,000 of his own funds on travel-related expenses related to his volunteer work overseas. He's also taken a lot of time off work to travel and do this work, and it has taken a toll on his finances. He jokes about being unsure if there will be kitty kibble next month... and I don't find that funny at all. So I'm hoping some of his friends can help him out a little bit.
On his current trip, he followed up with the people he provided emergency medical training to earlier this summer, observed the democratic election on 9/27, and is making plans for future missions to provide more training and support.
Auntie Charly says if we can raise $3,500, we can clear away most of dad's lingering trip-related debts and relieve some of his financial strain. She says last week, dad's co-volunteers legally incoporated and are now awaiting their 501(c)(3) tax exempt status so they can apply for grants to suppor their work. Until that comes through, we will be continuing to utilize this platform for small fundraising efforts.
