Sending Evy to Costa Rica

I am extremely excited to say that I've been accepted into Global Leadership Adventures, or GLA. GLA is the equivalent of Peace Corps for teenagers - and this July I have the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica with this great volunteer program.
This summer, I'll be participating in the Beachside Service Adventure™ program in Costa Rica. I'll be living in a small beachside community, working on a variety of projects. We'll be focused on environmental projects (like reforestation and turtle conservation), construction and renovation (like helping to improve a school's infrastructure), and much more. This opportunity allows me to make a difference while experiencing an entirely new culture, and I truly could not be more excited.
I never thought that my first time leaving the country would be a trip as incredible as this. Unfortunately, the cost isn't small. Between the initial cost of the trip, application fees, airfare, and the cost of travel documents, I have a lot of fundraising ahead of me.
