Emily's Mission Trip to India.

Hi, I am Emily. I am a communications director for Sierra Presbyterian in Nevada City, Ca. I have a deep love for travel and have contemplated mission trips for 4 years. I am hoping this trip will be the first of many mission trips.
I am raising money to go on a mission trip to India. I will be leaving for 9 days in August 2016. During this trip I will be working in Southern India at Sarah's Covenant Homes(http://www.schindia.com)
I will be going on my own but will join a team of others. Sarah's Covenant Homes cares for over 160 children through Southern India. Some children come to SCH simply malnourished; others come with severe disabilities and health challenges. However, no matter where they fall on the spectrum of ability, each and every child who comes through SCH is loved unconditionally, fed, and given a place to sleep, play, and be a kid.
While at SCH, the ministry opportunities I might be involved with are:
Administrative Tasks: With over 160 children, keeping up with medical and legal files is a full time job. Simply updating files, transferring information, or other basic administrative tasks is a big help.
Work Projects: From washing walls to installing a swing set, you might be asked to clean, paint, or perform light maintenance around the property. Doing this takes a the weight of a chore off the shoulders of the staff who live and care for these children around the clock.
Relational Ministry: The foster families, missionaries (and their kids), Indian staff (nurses and grandmothers, known as "ayahs), provide for the basic needs of the children. They need to laugh and be encouraged, to have someone share stories with them.
Kids Ministry: Maybe it's joining preschool time on the roof, Circle Time at Jubilee house (for older girls and young adults), or simply holding a baby, you'll be able to share God's love with each child you see. You'll discover that despite any physical or mental disability, each and every child is so full of the ability that really matters - understanding, receiving, and giving love.
The money used will help me pay the cost of board, meals and insurance services which is paid to the company I will be going with, Adventures in Missions. It will also help me with the cost of air faire which is up to me to purchase. I will need this by the end of June.
I am excited that there is a possibility for me to not only travel but to serve as well.
