I was given an amazing opportunity in May of this year. I was selected as one of 50 participants to attend the Black Theology and Leadership Institute (BTLI) at Princeton Theological Seminary July 12-19, 2014. The theme, "Liberating Theologies: Social Justice in the Black Church Today" speaks directly to my vocational desire to ensure that the Black Church is a safe and healing space for all of God's creation. To say the least, I was honored and excited to be chosen!
Unfortunately, I was not awarded a scholarship to attend the Institute and had to notify the selection committee that I would unable to attend. However, today, I was contacted by the Program Director and told that a partial scholarship to attend BTLI has become available!!
The $1200 that I seek to raise would:
- satisfy the remaining financial balance of my participation in BTLI
- purchase my roundtrip airline ticket and ground transportation from Newark, NJ to Princeton University
- purchase my books and other course materials
Prayerfully, I ask that you would consider making a donation to assist me in participating. Any donation would be appreciated. I recognize the quick turnaround of such a request. As much as I wanted to attend, I really believed that this would not be a reality for me. I was pleasantly surprised when the scholarship opportunity presented itself.
Thank you so much for all of your support and prayers. Should I be able to attend BTLI, I will definitely keep each of you posted!
