ME, BENJA
Hey Y'all, my name is Benja and I’m an ambassador for the experience economy. Most of my experience design know-how gets funneled into my role as the Creative Director of Take 3 Presents, an organization that produces multi-day interactive theatrical parties with the help of a 200+ person artist collective. I also work with a few different creative agencies, along with consulting event producers to make their events more immersive. I’m dedicated to designing experiences that bring people together in intimate and vulnerable environments to spark social dialogues and explore ways to be better people and create a better world together.
MY LEARNINGS AND BELIEFS
When I was a kid, I had a tough time in traditional classroom room environments. It wasn’t until I became an adult that I discovered that most people learn best through fun and playful experiences. It’s bizarre to think our world has enough resources to solve every major social and humanitarian issue many times over, but we just can't seem to connect the dots between problems and solutions. I believe that’s partially due to organizations addressing these issues by telling the public what is wrong instead of showing them. This style of communication keeps people from developing strong, visceral connections to problems and feeling personally invested in solutions.
I believe that experience design and experiential education are solutions to this problem. I get great joy in designing experiences that give adults permission to engage in play, develop characters, and explore ideas outside of their comfort zone. It’s within this cathartic space that deeper levels of understanding occur—where change can be integrated and real, tangible solutions can evolve.
But here’s the thing: even though I work my ass off doing what I love, it isn’t all that lucrative.
MY WISH, AND ASK
I would love your support and help! I’m asking my friends and extended community to help send me to college. It’s not just any college, it’s The College of Extraordinary Experience. The program is held at a castle in Poland in September alongside an international collection of the brightest minds in experience design. At the program, I intend to soak up all the knowledge offered, make long-lasting connections, and integrate that back into future community events.
The money I’m asking for will all go towards the trip and expenses. Any additional funds will be used for me to travel to Auschwitz and pay tribute to where my family suffered during WWII. In return, I will invite you all to a latke and golumpki dinner (traditional Polish food) once I return to express gratitude for your support and belief in my work and ability. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and giving a shit!
