My name is Angel Gardner I am currently in my 3rd year at University of Hawaii at Manoa pursuing a degree in English and Sociology. I will be graduating with honors in December 2018, ahead of my expected graduation date. I am in the honors program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and currently working on my honors thesis to graduate with honors. I have been given the amazing opportunity to study next semester at the University of Roehampton in London, where I plan to conduct my research, however my financial aid will not cover all of my program, travel, and research costs while abroad.
In London, I will be taking classes as well as conducting my own research for my thesis. I will be researching the social issues in London during 1888 regarding police, poverty, class, and medicine surrounding the notorious Jack the Ripper case. I picked this topic because I am interested in going into law after my undergrad, and I find this case very fascinating because it is an unsolved case. I plan to examine the district where the crime occurred, as well as visit the Jack the Ripper museum and walk along tours that they have in London. The reason for this part is to analyze current cultural phenomenon of the Ripper.
I am starting a GoFund Me page to cover my program costs, travel costs, and costs for my research. Although I receive financial aid from my University it will not cover all my expenses while abroad. I am trying to raise $5,000 for my trip to London, but any amount will help me while abroad.
