WSA 02/03 Boys Blue Team coached by Tyler Campbell is part of the West Side Alliance Competitive Soccer Club out of Tulsa, OK. The club is ran by Roger and Ryan Bush, the ORU Head Men's and Women's soccer coaches. This team has 4 members that have been together for 5-6 years, adding the others along the way but a majority of the players have been together at least 2-3 years now. They have fought adversity trying to get out of the bottom OPC league bracket for years. The team is now back to back OPC League champs. They have brought in hardware from multiple tournaments including 3rd in the 2020 OPC State Cup and 2nd in the 2021 OPC State cup. They were the 2021 WSA Cup champions as well as the 2020 Fall Blitz Invitational Champs.
This group of boys got a spot in the National Cup South Central Regionals in Tulsa, OK and dug deep to be the U19 Premier Tournament Champs. This gives them an automatic berth to the National Cup Finals in Commerce City, Colorado July 16-20. Needless to say, this team of boys are ecstatic and it's a well deserved accomplishment! This is also a big stage for them. College recruiters from around our nation will be at this tournament. It could be a turning point in many of their future soccer careers!
Now for the nitty gritty...Our team...I call them "my boys" because well I'm the team "momager", and each one has made a place in my heart and I do my best to make sure each and every one of them can participate without any worries. We have a team that consists of 50% Burmese players...they are Christian refugees from Burma. Most of their families have sought refuge in the United States to seek a better life for their families or get free from religious persecution. These guys have no financial support nor do they have parents that are able to attend ANY of their practices or games. As manager, I work hard every year to make sure the majority of their uniform cost is covered as well as all other fees throughout the season.
This tournament will be the biggest game of their lives to date and we want each and every one of them to be able to travel and participate. We are currently seeking donations to support our travel to Colorado. The trip will require a 6 day hotel stay, 7 days worth of food and drink as well as arranged transportation (and fuel) to and from Colorado. This means we are also looking for a bus/large transport van for about 10 young men.
This trip could easily cost our team $10,000-$15,000 once we are all said and done. Please consider supporting these awesome kids and their hard earned path to the finals!!
May the Lord reward you for your kindness. Ruth 1:8
