The St. Clair County High School "Sound of the Saints" Marching Band, from Odenville, Alabama, consists of members from 8th -12th grades. The Marching Band consistently receives Superior ratings and Best in Class Awards. The band strives to offer a "crowd friendly" entertaining show that still requires musical excellence from our members. Individuals are selected for All State and university ensembles yearly, but we are most proud of our high rate of scholarship recipients.
The Sound of the Saints recently received an invitation to perform in the New Year’s Day Parade in London England, one of the world’s largest, on January 1, 2020. The London New Year’s Day Parade maintains a team of global consultants who search for international performance groups and dance ensembles to recommend to the Participation Committee to be considered for an invitation to join the Parade. In 2019, the event was viewed by over 600,000 people along the parade route and an additional 600 million people worldwide watched the televised broadcast. This is a very prestigious event and it is a huge honor for our students to receive an invitation. It is a direct result of their hard work and dedication throughout the year. The students will be in London from December 27, 2019 until January 3, 2020. During the trip, the band will perform a concert in Cadogan Hall and tour many historical locations, such as Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral, and Buckingham Palace.
The educational benefits and life experiences that will be gained while abroad are priceless. However, the cost for the trip is $3800 per person. Due to the cost and payment deadlines, many of our students will not be able to partake of this opportunity. As a booster organization, we have made it our goal to attempt to fund the full cost of the trip so that everyone can attend. While we do have many fundraisers planned, we know we will not reach our goal without the additional support of individuals and business.
