Send Shawn to the Penn Scholarship!

Greetings!
My name is Shawn Whitsell. You may or may not know that I was recently accepted into the 2018 class of the Executive Program in Arts & Culture Strategy, a partnership between National Arts Strategies and the University of Pennsylvania. I will be taking courses in strategy, fundraising, financial management, governance, marketing and more, and building my professional network, forming lasting relationships with a diverse community of arts professionals around the world. The knowledge and skills I acquire from the program will be applied to my company, the Destiny Theatre Experience, and several other arts institutions I partner with, which will ultimately help me engage and serve the community in more enriching capacity.
By the time I discovered the program, I had only a few days to apply and the scholarship deadline had already passed. So, I invested the $500 deposit that will go toward the $4950 tuition and decided to create my own scholarship (Send Shawn to the Penn) to cover the remaining balance, which includes travel and lodging.
Here's the plan:
I am exchanging my services as an artist/writer/performer/public speaker/teaching artist for contributions to the scholarship fund. This means, I am willing to facilitate creative writing and beginner actors workshops for children or adults at churches, community centers, etc. (as long as it doesn't conflict with the work that I am already doing). I am also available for speaking engagements (aimed at youth) and spoken word performances. I am also a freelance writer who writes presses releases, public services announcements and web content for individuals and institutions. I also contribute regularly to the Connect Magazine. If I can be of service to you as a writer, I am open to assisting in exchange for a contribution. I am also open to other ideas you may have for an exchange. It just has to be creative/arts-based, involve community empowerment or something else along the lines of the type of work I do.
