I live in a pretty underserved neighborhood named Rosemont, in Charleston, SC. As a former NYer, I was super excited that I could rent an entire home by myself in this neighborhood. The neighborhood is small, it has about 100 homes, and I love living here. I’ve just been asked to help out on my little neighborhood council, so I've joined, and they are trying to do good things for the neighborhood with very few resources. The children in my little neighborhood are fantastic. They play in the streets, make up games and ride their brother’s and sister’s hand me down bikes until they are falling apart. They have very little, live packed in old houses (most of which need a lot of repairs) and depend on grant money for school supplies.

I want to help the neighborhood kids see Black Panther. This film could really inspire these kids in a lot of ways and I think it's really important for them to feel empowered and realize that they can do anything! I want to help give them the chance to see something that could help them feel like they can conquer the world!

I started this gofundme because I want them to have a day at the movies, complete with transportation and snacks. There are roughly 70 children old enough to see the movie in the neighborhood. If 50 children can make it (with 10 chaperones) it would cost about $35 per person for the ticket, drinks and snacks (which I assume they will take full advantage of it they are allowed to pick anything they want), and transportation to and from the theater. The neighborhood parents will chaperone if I can raise the $$. Please help me make this possible!
