Send Phoebe to Yale!

When I tell people I want to be an artist and a scientist, I am often met with the same remark: "Wow! It doesn't get more polar opposite than that!" to which I, without fail, respond, "I believe it takes the same mind to be an artist as it does a scientist." Everything that I do, whether it be art, science, even social justice, is motivated by curiosity and explored through thought.

With this in mind, I, like millions of high school students, made a plan:
I would attend the Oxbow School in Napa, CA as a Junior.
I would graduate one year early in May 2019.
I would attend a liberal arts university, majoring in Astrophysics and minoring in Fine Arts.
I would get my MFA from an art school.
I would find a Ph.D. program that would allow me to work interdisciplinarily, combining my scientific inquiry with my artistic practice.
Eventually, becoming a professional student, working for a university where they would fund my research and projects.

The visual language of art is the conduit the world needs for the research that can change it.

I believe in the human need to understand, and I believe in my work. The Yale Summer Program in Astrophysics believed in me.

I was recently offered admission to the 2019 Yale Summer Program in Astrophysics (YSPA), a highly competitive program for high school students that takes place annually over the course of 6 weeks in the summer before their senior year. In this case, half the battle is getting into the program, as it only accepts a mere 20-30 students total out of all national and international applicants.

Right now I have completed steps 1 and 2 of my plan and have run out personal funds in doing so.

As much of an honor as it is to be accepted into the program, making it a reality for me, requires finances that I do not have.

In donating to my page, you will be making my future and the future of art and science come to life.

Any and all funds will go towards covering the cost of tuition and fees required by YSPA.

Donors will also receive varying Thank Yous in the form of original artwork and exclusive commission work by myself, Phoebe Dubisch.
