Send NMS 8th Grade Band to Carowinds!

The Northwoods Middle School Nighthawk Band is raising money to help send the 8th Grade Concert Band to Carowinds to perform! My name is Jayna Stachurski, and this is my second year as the band director at Northwoods. This money will cover admissions, a meal, and transportation for the students. With Northwoods being a Title I (Low-income) school, the students aren't always able to fund opportunities like this themselves due to different financial struggles and more. This would be an AWESOME performance opportunity for the Concert Band because they will gain experience of playing live for a crowd in a location they are not used to! If you're a musician like myself, then you know that one of the ways you get better is through professional performance, which our kids need! This is their biggest performance opportunity thus far! The support would mean the world to myself, and my students who have been trying to go on this trip for about two years now, and can't seem to make it work. Not only do I want to give these students an incredible performance opportunity, I also want them to be able to have a day of fun, too. Most of our students go through struggles, beyond our imagination. These kids have had different roles impressed upon them that they truly didn't ask for. As a teacher who cares and loves these kids, I want to give them an opportunity to be children in an amusement park, away from all their problems, making memories with their friends, just having a wonderful time. If this project gets fully funded, I wouldn't be able to thank the donors enough. Please- no matter what, donate what you can, or even regularly if you can. This page will be up until April 3, collecting any and all donations possible, but the sooner we can get the trip paid for, the better!
