Send My Iraqi Friends to School

Donation protected

As many of you know, I was recently in Iraq for a few months. While I was there, my roommate and I started a few free English Classes in various villages to reach and help girls. We had over 30 girls attending our weekly English class, desperate to learn whatever they could.
After I left my roommate has been able to continue offering the English classes. School is finally starting back up, but 16 of our 30 girls cannot afford the transportation to get to school, so they won't be able to attend.
These girls and their families have been displaced by ISIS, and many have fallen behind in school because of this. To miss this year would only put them further behind in their education. If they get too far behind they'll be forced to drop out, and what would potentially happen is that we'll have an entire generation grow up without much education...imagine how that will affect not only them, but their families, future families, and country as a whole in 10 or 20 years when it is time for them to lead and govern the country!

Research proves that if you educate a girl, you get one of the largest return's on your investment. It not only postiviely impacts her, but it impacts her city and future generations to come. Here's a few quick stats to prove it...
•"A child born to a literate mother is 50% more likely to survive past age 5" (Care.org). That means that if you help send these girls to school, you are also helping their future children!
•"A woman's earnings will be 10-20% higher for every year of school she completes" (Care.org). That means that if you help send these girls to school, you are also helping her family now, her future spouse and children, her community that will postively benefit from her income and the country's economy.
•"Children with educated mothers are 2x as likely to go to school" (Care.org). That means that by sending these girls to school, you're also increasing the likelihood for their future children to go to school!

These are just a few of the reasons it's so important to get these sweet, precious friends to school.
But there's a tiny problem...school starts in just two days. I don't want them to miss one single day of school, so I'm dreaming big and asking YOU to help me raise all the money we need to send these sweet friends of mine to school for the year!

It costs $20USD to send one girl to school per month.
There are 16 girls that need to attend school for the school term (8 months) so we need to raise $2,560.
Gofundme also takes a small percentage  of the money to pay the processing fees, so in total we need to raise $2,760 to get these girls to school. And we have two days to do it!

So would you please take a second right now and give whatever you can...$1, $5, $15, or $20, literally no amount is too small.

If you have ever benefited from school in your life, could you please help me get these girls to school?

Once you've donated, please share this on social media, text and email your friends the link and ask them to help us too. The clock is ticking...we have less than 30 hours!

Once we raise all the money, I'll be able to send it to my roommate there who will pay for the transportation to get the girls to school.

The Kurds have an old proverb that says "we have no friends but the mountains." Let's prove them wrong. Let's show them that they have better friends than the mountains in us!
