My name is Mikaela Tommy and I am an alpine ski racer from Canada. I started my first World Cup in 2013 and then was a part of the national team for 5 seasons. The past few years I have been studying at the University of Colorado, while racing the World Cup independently.
I have gained experience and learned a lot of really valuable lessons during my seasons alone. I had my best World Cup results and raced in my 4th World Championships in 2019. I was also able to win a World Cup spot in 2020 for giant slalom from the NORAM Cup circuit. However, racing on the World Cup self-funded is a struggle financially, and has led me to a lot less on-snow training and coaching. This season I have the dream and opportunity to qualify for the Beijing Winter Olympics. I want to give it my best shot, and be well prepared with proper training and support.
I am asking for help! I need the money for my return to snow fall camps and my entire World Cup season. I also want to pay a coach to travel and help me be at my best for this season. If you are interested in the details of what your support would help me pay for, here is a list of some things you need to ski race.
A coach’s salary
Flights
Extra bags and overweight
Apartments in Europe
Hotels
Food
Gas
Rental car
Lift tickets
Training lanes
Tuning equipment
Drill
Gates
Wax
Travel insurance
FIS license
Race entry fees
My goal is to be able to pay for all my expenses as well as my coaches while traveling. I appreciate you for reading and showing support!
Thank you!
Mikaela
