My name is Mia Moore, and I am 15 years old. As a performer, my aim is to consistently use my platform to raise awareness and bring attention to music as an outlet for teens and young adults. Finding a healthy outlet is hard and sometimes we find it hard to tell others how we feel, but the language of music provides emotional healing and an opportunity to promote peace in a different way. As I continue my journey and pursuits, I created this page because I need to help my parents cover my tuition costs for the Interlochen Arts Academy starting this Fall 2019. Interlochen has been my dream school since 5th grade and receiving their acceptance letter into the Voice ( classical / opera ) program is one of the highlights of my life as it represents the next major step in my journey.
Interlochen’s mission of “enhancing the quality of life through the universal language of the arts” inspired me to apply because that is the core of my aspirations in music. The Academy provides students with the resources, individual attention, immersive learning experience, and frequent performance opportunities that would further my foundation and growth in classical music. Interlochen will teach me how to communicate all that I want in my performance and develop my ability to really connect with the audience. The community of like-minded students and faculty who will surround me and support my pursuits can only prove beneficial as I hone my craft and chart my path in music
The arts have really taught me so much- expressing and communicating my emotions, discipline, patience, and resilience. Music has made me who I am. Without it, I cannot imagine what my life would even look like. Music is me and I am music.
