My name is Geoffrey Gilbert and I am from Charleston, South Carolina. I am a rising junior at Bishop England High School. Last year, I made a verbal commitment to attend Clemson University on a baseball scholarship. This is all apart of God's plan in helping me reach the MLB.
Recently, I got invited to the 2017 Perfect Game Underclass All-American Games – Invitees for this invitation-only event are some of the best underclassmen in the country. Each year the Games include the top 150 rising juniors from the United States and Puerto Rico. Many players have played in the Perfect Game Underclass All-American Games and go on to be first round draft picks. Since 2004 over 30 Major League Baseball players can be counted as Perfect Game Underclass All-American Games alumni
Attendance at this event is not something which I anticipated or my family budgeted for so I am asking your help to attend. My goal is to raise $2500 by August 11th, 2017. I need to raise money for my father and me to travel to San Diego ($1200), money for registration ($650), and money to stay in a hotel close to the ballpark ($650). By helping me go to the 2017 Perfect Game Underclass All-American Games you will help me inch closer to living out my life-long dream and goal of playing major league baseball.
I volunteer annually at the City of Charleston Miracle League (a community-supported baseball league for children and adults with mental and physical challenges) and I volunteer at Ronald McDonald House. I also volunteer with Carolina Basset Hound Rescue. When my schedule allows I alter serve at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. I look forward every year to serving Maundy Thursday service, Good Friday service, and Easter Vigil.
I have worked hard to get to make the most of opportunities such as this earning the following recognition, in addition to other national and state awards.
• Top ranked left-handed pitcher overall in South Carolina in the Class of 2019 by Perfect Game USA
• Top ranked prospect in South Carolina in the Class of 2019 by Diamond Prospects
• 2nd ranked player overall in South Carolina in the Class of 2019 by Perfect Game USA
• 8th nationally ranked left-handed pitcher in the Class of 2019 by Perfect Game USA
• 98th nationally ranked player overall in the Class of 2019 by Perfect Game USA
• 2017 Perfect Game Preseason Underclassmen All American Teams (High Honorable Mention)
• 2017 South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association All State Player
• 2017 South Carolina High School League AAA All State Player of the Year
• 2017 South Carolina High School Sports Report AAA All State Player of the Year
• 2017 Region AAA South Carolina High School League State Champion
