I want to take my art making skill to the next level and begin my career as an illustrator. The Illustration Masters Class at Amherst College, June 11th-18th will provide me with a week of intensive learning and allow me the opportunity to connect with industry professionals from several of the key companies I hope to work with. The caliber of the professional artists gathering at IMC at Amherst in Massachusettes is unparalleled. This is the premier learning event of the year for fantasy illustrators. The Art Directors for both Tor Books and Orbit will be in attendance and the artist/instructors are top tier industry professionals. This is a week of intensive learning and networking and will undoubtedly have a profound impact, not only on my abilities as an image creator, but also on my knowledge of what it takes to navigate the world of professional Illustration. The truth is I am already committed to going. The cost of attendance is $2,685 and the flight over (from Oregon) will be another several hundred. I am asking for anything that will help offset the cost of admission. Anything you have to contribute, even if it is simply advice, will be greatly appreciated.
