Send Kristina back to the Scripps National Bee

Our daughter Kristina Martos has the opportunity to once again compete at the Scripps National Spelling Bee on May 26th through June 1st. Kristina is currently an 8th grader at Lynn Middle School. She is Lynn's two-time Spelling Bee Champ and 2019 District Champ. She took 2nd place in Regionals in El Paso, Texas competing against 158 other spellers! She finished 1st among Southern New Mexico spellers and we couldn't be more proud.
Last year Scripps National Spelling Bee created a program called RSVBEE. This program was created to offer spellers a way to compete at National level. More than 900 applicants applied nationwide and Kristina was selected to fill one out of 225 slots! This made Kristina only the 2nd person in Las Cruces, NM to attend Nationals! This year, Kristina will be making history in Las Cruces by being the first person to attend Scripps National Spelling Bee twice in the 94 years of the National Spelling Bee's existence!
Last year LCPS graciously paid for her entire trip, but due to budget constrictions this year, they were only able to pay for her registration fee. The speller is required to stay at the National Gaylord Resort, where the Bee will take place or have to pay a $600 fee to stay elsewhere. The hotel fee is $2,244.76 and this does not include airfare or food.
We are creating this fund in hope of sending Kristina back to Nationals. We are reaching out to our family, friends and the city of Las Cruces. Any support is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
