Send Josie to Nationals

As many of you know, our daughter Josie has lived her life battling Cystic Fibrosis, Celiac Disease and various other complications from the combination of these two diseases. To many, this may seem like terrible hand to be dealt. However, we have watched God use these circumstances to shape and mold our daughter in amazing ways. At the very heart of who Josie is, is a deep love for the Word of God. This love for the Word has been shaped through the circumstances of Josie’s life. Her love of the Bible and her deep-rooted desire to know God through His Word has been forged in the fire of many trials. From an early age, Josie has loved the Bible and she has desired to know the Bible in depth.
For the past five plus years Josie has spent her summers competing in the Bible Bee. The Bible Bee is a nationwide competition in which the participants (kids from 5 to 18 years old—in four different divisions) study certain sections of Scripture and memorize numerous biblical passages. Students participate in various local regions. Each year the top competitors across the nation are invited to compete at Nationals. Qualifying for Nationals is highly competitive and requires dedication, academic aptitude and prayerful dependence upon God.
This summer has been one of the busiest summers our family has ever experienced. The girls have spent a fair amount of time traveling to visit family (mostly while Amanda and I were in Bulgaria working towards bringing Dani home), adjusting to being a family of 5 instead of four, and keeping up with our busy schedule at home. In the midst of all this (not to mention the daily regiment of CF treatments and now school) Josie has been faithful in her Bible Bee study and Scripture memory. She has been learning Greek and Hebrew words (which makes her seminary nerd dad really happy!).
Although she didn’t expect it, all of Josie’s hard work has culminated in qualifying for Nationals. This is, for her, a dream come true. Some kids want to play in the Little League World Series … Josie wanted to go to Nationals. Amanda, Suzannah and I are very proud of her hard work and very thankful to God for her giftedness. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Josie and we want to do everything we can to allow her this opportunity and support her in it. Would you consider partnering with us to send Josie to Nationals? Nationals is held in San Antonio Texas this year and we are trying to raise support for the travel expenses. It is our prayer, not only that we are able to raise support for the travel expenses, but that we are able to encourage other kids and teenagers to purse God in His Word. Every donation, not only helps Josie go to Nationals, it encourages kids everywhere to dig deeply into the Word of God.
