I was blessed to spend last year in the Community of St Anselm in London. The daily life we shared, a life of prayer, study and service, profoundly impacted me. Among our diverse church traditions and cultural backgrounds, we prayed and learned through the challenges and joys of living together.

Ten months in community just wasn't enough. Though I'm not sure I'm called to a lifetime commitment in a religious community, the next step for me is to spend another year in one such community.

The Chemin Neuf Community, a Catholic community with an ecumenical vocation, has offered to welcome me at one of their main formation centers in France. I got to know the Chemin Neuf over the past year in CoSA; seven members of their community lived with us at Lambeth Palace, guiding our year together and our retreats. I also had the opportunity to visit Hautecombe Abbey over Christmas, when the celibates of the Chemin Neuf welcomed us resident members of CoSA to spend the week with them.

I have been invited to begin as a helper in Hautecombe this September. I'll spend the year in the daily rhythm of prayer observed by the community. I'll be deepening in spiritual formation as I journey with a spiritual companion and a sharing group. In the mornings and afternoons, I'll have practical jobs to assist the daily work of the abbey.

I feel blessed by all who supported me as I made my way to the Community of St Anselm, and I thank you for considering supporting me in this coming year's journey. Your prayers are always appreciated.

Though my stay at Hautecombe will be free, with room and board provided, I am in need of some extra money to cover the costs of travel, health insurance, and my phone bill.
