Once upon a time, stray horses appeared on my farm in Central Kansas.  As a newly wed city girl, new to country living,  I fumbled through introducing myself to the spread out neighbors and was directed to call Elizabeth and Aaron.

The horses were not theirs but I was intrigued by this cowboy/cowgirl couple with their quick wit and matter-of-fact approach to life.    A causal introduction to their children and I was smitten with Nicole's kindness and Jeremiah's mixture of gentleman-daredevil cloaked in a preschooler body.

Fast forward fifteen years and though life's journey has been full of unforeseen obstacles, the family is the nearly the same--quick-witted couple, kind-hearted daughter, gentlemanly-daredevil-aka Marine Son.

But I am not the same for having known them--

Elizabeth's story is one for the big screen...I hope she takes the time to write her story...and even though she is not a fictional character....I would like to give her a happy ending to this chapter of her life.

For as long as I have known Jeremiah he wanted to be a pilot--and I never doubted the assured little boy telling me about joining the military and flying planes.    The only question I had was which branch.

Last Fall, I received a call from Jeremiah asking for a reference on his application to join the Marines.  With proud tears, I accepted the honor to be a small part of this young man's journey toward serving our country.

Fast forward to today--Elizabeth's year has been a roller coaster of loss, graduations, hospitalizations...and her Faith, Thanksgiving, Hope still shine through...here is her last update on Facebook:

"I'm thankful for laundry today! I haven't even been able to get up and do laundry for myself and my family for the last two months about. Yesterday and today, I have been able to do our laundry! Wow, never thought I would be so happy to be able to do laundry! I'm so glad God has blessed me with a little more stamina. Now, if he would just get rid of this fever. Today, I started running a low grade fever, again! With this fever I am getting swimmy headed and just not feeling well. God bless you all!!"

Many people pray for Elizabeth as she continues to ward off medical challenges associated with her seven year battle with ovarian cancer.

Today, you have an opportunity to help ENCOURAGE  ELIZABETH with a gift to see Jeremiah achieve one of his dreams.
