I’m raising money to help pay for living and travel expenses while I study in Germany. The initial program I will be attending in June costs € 11,900, which is about $ 14k USD. The subsequent language programs will cost roughly $2k. Fortunately, the master’s and PhD programs are free at the university in Dresden, minus a few registration fees. I’m looking to raise $16k by December, 1 to afford these expenses.

 

There are a few reasons I’ve chosen to study the language and finish my psychology degrees in Germany. Firstly, I feel called to serve students internationally. I feel God has set this path out for me to help students find their purpose and guide them through academic measures to achieve their goals. By learning the German language while thoroughly immersed in the culture, I feel I will be best prepared to build relationships with students and fellow scholars. I aim to utilize a PhD as a professor, psychotherapist, and Director at the Reading Institute of Higher Education. Currently, I work with the institute part time as their Director of Program Development. The school's president and I have worked together to formulate a plan in my academic and career development to fulfill this goal.

 

As mentioned, this money will be spent on education, living and travel expenses. The tuition for language and culture courses in Altenberg includes, covers: airfare to and from Germany; transportation to Central States of Germany and local European countries; lodging; meals; guided education trips to the historical and cultural cities of Dresden, Leipzig, Eisenach, Weimar, Wittenberg, Berlin, Prague, and Vienna. I will continue within the language track to achieve a C1 level in German. After doing so, I can move on to a master’s and doctorate degree of Psychology in the native language, if accepted, at Technische Universität Dresden.

The reason I am resorting to a crowdfunding platform like GoFundMe is because financial aid and private student loans do not recognize this institution to initiate a financial relationship. Personal loans are currently out of question, due to my lack of assets and reasonable income.

 

I believe that this is the vision for my life. The path fits my skills and capabilities. Yes, these goals are ambitious and admittedly intimidating. However, having achieved my Bachelor's degree while working full-time, and earning awards for academic excellence, I have no doubt in my ability to make it happen. I have faith that this is how I am meant to develop my gifts and utilize them for the good of my community here in Reading, and for my soon-to-be-acquainted-with community in Altenberg.
