Send Alec on a Mission to Japan!

Donation protected
Hello to those who know me, and nice to meet you to those that don't! My name is Alec, I am a student at Multnomah University in Portland, Oregon, and I'm in need of your support: The TESOL department at Multnomah U is providing an opportunity for students to go on a 1 week mission trip to Kobe, Japan, where they will help to lead an English Bible Camp! The students attending the camp will be from elementary to high-school, and are coming to study the English language from native speakers, as well as the Bible and Christianity. The camp itself also supports the outreach of Youth Harvest Church in Kobe, Japan.

Who benefits?

The students attending the camp will get to study English from students of our own TESOL program, as well as learn more about the Bible and Christ from believers. Japan is a country where many people (especially the youth) never seek for God, and where only approx. 2% of the population are followers of Jesus. Many of the Japanese students I have volunteered with here in the USA can attest to the fact that the majority in Japan "don't have religion." As followers of Christ, we know that there is no greater gift than His! And any opportunity to be a witness for His sake is a gift to us.

Youth Harvest Church in Kobe, Japan is a local church that we will be partnering with, using English instruction to share the Gospel of Christ with the youth that attend. I must admit, I am a little late in the game and am still learning about this ministry, I will update this as I learn more to inform everyone!

And, of course, me! I will benefit. I have never been on a mission trip before, and through volunteering with some of the international ESL students here in the USA, I have developed a sort of affinity to our Japanese neighbors. I know that God desires to see all peoples of all nations come to Him, and I feel strongly that He is calling me in this direction. SO, while I was pondering this, I asked around about potential opportunities and what do you know? Our university was providing exactly that opportunity!

That's where I need your help. I need to raise $2800 in total to fund this trip. that includes airfare, meals, boarding, and transportation for one week in Japan this coming August.

A foreseeable bump in the road is that I need to raise $1500 of that before February 15th, in little over a month! the remaining $1300 will be due on June 15th.

I am asking humbly for your support, as I am living paycheck to paycheck, relying entirely on loans and grants to pay for my education. Like I had mentioned earlier, this will be my first mission trip, and my first trip abroad! This will be an opportunity for me to immerse myself within a culture that I feel strongly for, and may potentially open doors to other future opportunities in that field.

Anything you would be willing to provide would mean so much to me, and would contribute to a greater impact on those whom we will serve overseas! if 28 people each gave $100, that would be enough. If 280 people each gave $10, that would be enough. If 2800 people gave one dollar each, that would be enough! Every penny counts, and I will be so so so thankful, the students will be thankful, and you can feel confident knowing that your money is spent supporting something that will produce greater fruits for Christ.

Since I need to raise $1500 before February 15th, and the additional $1300 by June 15th, if I do not reach those goals, the money will be refunded to you ASAP. Any money that goes beyond this goal will also be refunded, or perhaps donated to Youth Harvest Church in Japan! I am not sure if that's something I can do, so I will update this as soon as I find out.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH

God bless you!!!

-Alec
