Thai Massage skl for a Thai Hatian Trans Person

Donation protected
Hello Everyone!

I'm Saeng-Fah, a Thai Haitian Non-Binary Trans person and I'm raising money for  continuing my massage education from Baan Hom Samunphrai in Chiang Mai, Thailand, which has recently opened up after a COVID19 shutdown.

Please know that all I learn will go directly back into community based education, massage services and herbal remedies at sliding scale!

Ever since I did my first course at Baan Hom Samunphrai in 2015 I have been giving massages wherever I go on a sliding scale.  My mother, a traditional Thai midwife has also offered me life long teachings on the art form. Most recently I was practicing out of Meta.Den, in so called NYC ( Lenepe lands) and as of COVID my home here too. If you're wondering, the orange balls are herbal compress balls, I learnt how to make during my last training. They are a common part of Thai Massage, they are warmed up and contain herbs that serve to soothe and relax the body and mind. You can see a review of my practice at the bottom of this page.

I plan to take a 60 Hour Womb lifting and postnatal care Class, 60 Hour Herbal Medicine class and 150 hour class for the second time. There are so few trans Black practitioners that I feel it is important to add myself to this roster, with a grounding in this wisdom that is both ancestral and up to date too.

As of today, I have fronted the costs for travel and living from my savings and am raising an additional months rent for when I get back to home to NYC in order to cover my quarantine period before I can get to work.

Money Breakdown:

Class 1: Nov 3rd-12th 2020// 60 Hour Womb Lifting and Postnatal Care: $445
Class 2: Nov 16th-25th 2020 // 60 Hour Herbal Medicine Class: $455
Class 3: Nov 29th- Dec 23rd 2020 // 150 Thai Massage Course :$1,013

Flights:
NYC-Bangkok - $900
Bangkok-Chiang Mai - $130

Rent + Living:
$1500

TOTAL=$4,453
Any extra raised to hit the $5000 goal will be used for buying supplies to bring back to NYC, herbs and tools to bolster my practice.

REVIEW:
"After three weeks of my new work-from-home job, my body and spirit were suffering. Sitting for 8hrs a day in a chair was causing severe neck and back pain, so my visit with Saeng was truly right on time. The Thai techniques Saeng uses are not only beautiful to participate in but powerfully effective. Pressure point therapy, deep tissue rubs, and homemade herbal compresses eased my body into a state of relaxation and release. They were gentle and communicative, and made sure everything was comfortable and supportive of my particular needs, as I was menstruating and also had difficulty sitting in certain positions. Saeng’s intuitive technique also helped me to learn about my own body and pain—through the massage I was able to identify certain points of sensitivity and ways to check in with my muscles throughout the week.  Nearly all the products Saeng uses are handmade by them and their herbal tea blend at the end of the massage was a great boost for my immune system and a lovely personal touch. I have already scheduled recurring appointments for more healing and relaxation!" —Sava
