Help me send 200 kids to see Wrinkle in Time movie in Perth, Western Australia.

MISSION STATEMENT

Hello world! My name is Joan Dellavalle and l am a hair stylist in Perth, Australia with an African background who believes in sharing love & light in this world and I am my Own Ambassador. I am raising funds to send 200 kids to watch Wrinkle in Time. I also believe that kids should be given the opportunity to discover the book so additional funds will be used to buy the Wrinkle in Time novel for kids in Africa. As well  continue  educational workshops for kids in Australia using wrinkle in time as a foundation

BACKGROUND STORY

Coming from a less privileged background, I had never heard of Wrinkle in Time until Ava DuVernay started working on the movie. I bought my self a copy and page after page I was inspired and all I could think of was how much l wanted to share this with many kids to help them believe in themselves and become heroes in their own right. Ava DuVernay is one of my Biggest inspirations. With Wrinkle in Time she has brought diversity & inclusion - that itself is a wonderful thing to be inspired by. Every story she brings to life touches people on such a positive level.

My purpose is to continue sharing the light of Wrinkle in Time that Ava DuVernaey and the diverse cast have brought to us. This is especially for young girls as I believe in inspiring and empowering girls to see more in themselves and become warriors who can then go on to share positivity & light in this world.

OPRAH LIGHTS MY WAY

Each and every cast in this movie inspires inspires me. But Oprah Winfrey - (Mama Oprah as I call her!) inspires me in words I can’t even explain. Oprah has inspired me through and through to believe in myself and to share more love & light in this world. I pushed and fought my way through to start a Hair styling business in Perth. I had the privilege to work alongside Kim Kimble, hairstylist to Oprah and creator of Storm Reid’s incredible looks in this movie. Her passion, dedication & hard work pushed and inspired me to take a chance on myself and work with a purpose.

I AM MY OWN AMBASSADOR

Having amazing role models to inspire me, I pushed myself and brought love & light into everything that I do. I inspire others to do the same if not more. In Australia I ran workshops using hairdressing as a foundation to inspire girls to find self confidence, self belief, self love and become warriors in their own rights. After watching highlights of Wrinkle in Time, I discovered all these layers in what I try and help girls find within themselves. I believe that this will help so many girls of colour especially to believe that they too are capable of becoming warriors and creating change. I am always finding ways to inspire girls to create change.

Making this world a better place starts in small doses. I learnt how to share light in any way I could since I was a young girl. Over the years I have worked with orphanages in different countries to share light with kids that don’t have much. It is exciting to see movies like Wrinkle in Time remind us to share more light in this world and inspire others to do the same.

MY WRINKLE IN TIME MISSION

This mission was inspired by WAKANDA and Fredrick’s to share the Black Panther story with children. Black Panther has inspired a legion of young warriors with its layers of sharing so much beauty that Africa has to offer. Ryan Coolger brought many of us together to share this beauty with so many people. I surprised a small group of young girls to watch the Black Panther movie to help discover the Wakanda warrior within themselves.

My Wrinkle in Time mission is to bring young kids to see the magic created in Wrinkle in Time. Having met Oprah when she was on tour in Australia, she touched me and inspired me with her words. I have always made it my personal mission to work with a true purpose. I wish to pass this on to the kids and the future generation.
