Selah's Recovery Fund

Our baby girl Selah Grace is a heart warrior with Congenital Heart Disease. She was diagnosed with CHD only 2 days prior to her birth which sent us to the East Coast of Florida for her birth and care, as only Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital has the capacity to treat her. At day 8 with medication in an attempt to control the leaking valves she started to desaturate as her mitral valve was regurgitating so severely it was causing a back-flow of her blood back to her lungs causing Pulmonary Hypertension. This in turn causing excess strain on her lungs and heart. She was then intubated to release the stress as she was going into heart failure and the call was made that she would need life saving surgery. Her scheduled surgery was then pushed up as overnight her heart rate at rest spiked to 275 bpm. We walked with our daughter down to the OR and gave her a good luck kiss on day 16 as she underwent open heart surgery in which her mitral valve was replaced with one her surgeon fabricated. We were released just shy of a month from when she was born. She has been in and out of the hospital since recovering from a respiratory issue that was a result of being intubated as she was struggling to breathe. She had to go down to the OR once again this time to open her airway as she had significant inflammation causing narrowing of the airway. As of February 1st we are back at Joe DiMaggio due to the replacement valve failing and will require replacement once again. That means round 2 for open heart surgery and recovery. The surgery went well however well, however we have an extended stay due to side effects of the surgery. She had a slight bleeding on the brain, and according to an EEG, and MRI she has suffered from subtle seizures and 2 small strokes.

Her condition has exhausted us financially as it has resulted in several missed days of work due to the fragility of her condition. We are required to eat out as we have no where to store groceries or cook them. If you can help us in any way even if by sharing our story and fundraiser we would greatly appreciate it.
