Selah Metzler's Fundraiser

Casey & Christian met their little girl Selah, last week on June 27th. They were so exctied to become a family of 4 and to take her home to be with her new big brother, Matthias. However, the day they were getting ready to leave the hospital, they were told Selah had to stay another day due to very high bilirubin numbers. Each day Selah had to have her heel pricked to check her blood, and they kept getting the news that she couldn't go home. The discouragement set in deeper with each blood result, and one day turned into one week in the hospital. Not only was her bilirubin extremely high, but doctors were concerned that she could possibly have a rare blood disorder that would require a blood transfusion. A week after being in the hospital, Casey & Christian finally received good news that they could go home, which meant they could finally be with their 15 month old boy Matthias again too! However, even though they were home, Selah had to continue her heel pricks every day to check her hemoglobin levels, until they received the news that she would need the blood transfusion right away. She will be at Children's Hospital tomorrow morning receiving this, and once the transfusion is done, they should know more what happens next. If Selah's complications are due to this blood disorder, she could end up needing more transfusions throughout her childhood, which will require more medical attention.
Casey & Christian were expecting to have your usual hospital bills for labor and delivery, but now they are going to have some pretty big medical expenses due to the tests, blood transfusion, and high risk medical attention Selah received the entire week she was in the hospital. Also, because of her medical complications being so unexpected, Christian had to take extra time off work, which was unpaid.
We are trying to raise money to help them with this financial burden as they go through this difficult process with their little baby girl. They would be extremely grateful for any donations they receive, and more than anything, we know they appreciate prayers and encouragement from friends and family, as this has been a scary and difficult time for them.
