Kaye-Loni is my little sister, and she began having seizures when she was just 19 years old. Now, at almost 37, she has been living with epilepsy for nearly half her life. The constant threat of seizures has changed so much for her—she’s afraid to drive alone, worried that a sudden episode could cause an accident and put herself or others in danger. Even simple daily activities, like taking a shower, come with the risk of falling or getting hurt. This constant anxiety is a heavy burden, not just for Kaye-Loni, but for all of us who love her. Anxiety itself can be a trigger for seizures, making it even harder for her to find peace and independence.
A seizure alert dog would be truly life-changing for Kaye-Loni. This specially trained companion will be able to sense when a seizure is coming and alert her, giving her precious moments to get to safety. The dog will also bring peace of mind to her, her husband, his kids, and to me as her sibling. We will all be able to rest a little easier, knowing she has a loyal friend by her side to help keep her safe.
The funds raised will go directly to the cost of the seizure alert dog, the necessary training, and bringing the dog home from Florida. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help give Kaye-Loni the chance to regain her independence and live without constant fear. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read our story and support this fundraiser. Your kindness will make a real difference in my sister’s life.
