<div>Amelie, 4 Jahre, ein besonders sensibles und warmherziges Mädchen. Sie wurde mit einer seltenen neurologischen Erkrankung (Septooptische Dysplasie 1 : 10000) geboren.

<div>Amelie hat eine beidseitige Hypoplasie des Sehnervs, eine Hypophyseninsuffizienz mit sekundärem Hyperkortisolismus, eine Hyperthyreose mit kombinierter motorischer und sprachlicher Entwicklungsverzögerung.

<div>Amelie und ihre Mutter (alleinerziehend, Teilzeit berufstätig) haben in ihrem kurzen Leben schon viel durchgemacht. Angefangen der schwierigen Geburt und unzähligen langen Krankenhausaufenthalten, über quälende Untersuchungen bis hin zur sozialen Einsamkeit, weil viele Menschen nicht wissen, wie sie mit einer solchen Situation umgehen sollen. Eine Last, die wir zu tragen haben. Es lohnt sich zu kämpfen, das hat Amelie so verdient. Wir geben nicht auf, jedes Prozent Sehkraft und jeder Entwicklungsfortschritt bringt ein Stück mehr Lebensqualität und macht das einst traumatisierte, ängstliche Mädchen mutiger.

<div>Eine teure Elektrostimulationstherapie in Berlin, die von der Krankenkasse nicht bezahlt wird, lässt Amelie ein wenig sehen. Diese zweiwöchige Therapie muss mehrmals wiederholt werden, um langfristige Fortschritte und Erfolge zu erzielen. Mit 7 Jahren ist die Entwicklung der Augen abgeschlossen, bis dahin können noch etwa 6-8 Behandlungen durchgeführt werden. Danach ist es zu spät und nichts mehr zu ändern. Wir haben keine Zeit zu verlieren und versuchen so viele Therapiesitzungen wie möglich zu bekommen. Nach der ersten Therapie konnte Amelie Licht wahrnehmen, teilweise auch Kontraste, ab und zu greift sie sogar nach Gegenständen. Auch ihre Augenbewegungsstörungen haben nachgelassen und sie ist mutiger geworden.

<div>Die Therapie wirkt sich auch positiv auf andere Bereiche des Gehirns aus. Eine 2-wöchige Therapie, die alle 6 Monate wiederholt werden kann, kostet 12.000 Euro. Aufgrund ihrer Entwicklungsverzögerung möchten wir Amelie auch eine Tiertherapie ermöglichen, die ihr sicher ein Lächeln ins Gesicht zaubern wird. We won't give up, every percent of sight and every step forward in her development brings a bit more quality of life and makes the once traumatised, anxious girl more courageous.

<div>Expensive electrostimulation therapy in Berlin, which is not covered by health insurance, allows Amelie to see a little. This two-week therapy has to be repeated several times in order to achieve long-term progress and success. The development of the eyes is complete at the age of 7, by which time around 6-8 treatments can still be carried out. After that it is too late and nothing can be changed. We have no time to lose and try to get as many therapy sessions as possible. After the first therapy, Amelie was able to perceive light, sometimes even contrasts, and now and then she even reaches for objects. Her eye movement disorders have also decreased and she has become more courageous.

<div>The therapy also has a positive effect on other areas of the brain. A 2-week course of therapy, which can be repeated every 6 months, costs 12,000 euros. Due to her developmental delay, we would also like to provide Amelie with riding therapy, which is sure to bring a smile to her face.
