Seese Family House Fire

Donation protected
Holy Saturday is also known as Black Saturday, among other things…..

I have known the Seese family for almost 40 years.  They moved into our neighborhood when I was just a teenager.  Alice is one of my nearest and dearest friends.  Her parents, Rose and Jim, were like my second mom and dad.  Her little brothers, Jim & Joe played with my brothers.  After I had my daughter and we lived at home, Alice’s baby cousin was my daughter’s playmate!  We go back a long way, have history together and have many wonderful memories.  Rose and Jim are like my second parents.  They are very proud people and they don’t ask for help, even when they need it.  Jim still works so that he can provide for his family.  Rose, God bless her, is a 15 year cancer survivor.  Unfortunately, the effects of the very strong chemo have started taking a toll on her, even after all of these years.  Alice, who has been in more than one horrific car accident, is usually in constant pain.  She lives with them so that they can all help each other.  Alice’s younger brother, Joe also lives with them.

On Saturday morning, March 31, 2018, Holy Saturday …. Also known as Black Saturday …. Alice’s 2 young nephews were playing a game in the back bedroom.  They heard a popping sound and saw fire coming from the outlet.   The boys ran to get Alice and told her there was a fire.  Jim, just happened to come in and tossed his keys and things on the kitchen table and ran to the room.  Jim tried to put the fire out while everyone got out of the house and while waiting for the fire department to get there.  It just looked like a small fire in the outlet … little did they know it was in the walls and was about to devastate them.

The fire went from one side of the house to the other in a matter of minutes.  The house will need to be rebuilt and everything replaced.  Unfortunately, some things can’t be replaced.  People say “thank God for Facebook, they still have pictures” ….  Yea, they have a few current pics here and there, but, the pictures of the memories they had with Grandma & Grandpa Seese and Nanny (all deceased) are gone.

As of right now, they are in a hotel … no place that I’d wanna be on Easter unless it was because I was away visiting someone for this most sacred holiday.  Jim will be talking more with the insurance company this week to see where they go from here.  But right now they have some immediate needs …. They can’t drive their vehicle because keys were lost.  Meds need replacing and insurance won’t pay for it. ☹  Small things that you run out of a burning house without … A pair of shoes, a phone charger, etc.   There are so many things that people take for granted and don’t think about until it’s needed.  Not to mention, the deductible for the home owner’s insurance ☹

Like I said, Rose and Jim are not the type of people to ask for help.  But they will give it when they can.  So I’m asking for help for them.  Thanks for taking the time to read this.  If you can help, please do.  If you can’t, please say a prayer and share it.
